Catamaran on the Sochi-Gagra route will start cruising in early August
The Unified Transport Directorate, together with Rosmorrechflot and the Sochi City Administration, is launching a sea connection between Russia and Abkhazia. From the beginning of August, a modern high-speed catamaran «Neptune» will run along the Sochi-Gagra route. At the moment, it is being transported from St. Petersburg to Sochi.
It is planned that the catamaran will make two round trips a day. The schedule will be drawn up in such a way that passengers can predict the time of their stay in Abkhazia and have the opportunity, if desired, to return to Sochi on the same day. The ship will depart from the Sochi seaport, and arrive in Abkhazia at the Gagra port point. Based on the results of the catamaran's work in the first days, a decision will be made to attract an additional vessel to this route.
The first days of the catamaran's operation will show how attractive this route is for guests and residents of Sochi. If the number of people wishing to visit Abkhazia exceeds the capacity of the vessel, the ANO «ETD» will work out the issue of attracting an additional catamaran.
The vessel «Neptune» with a capacity of 70 passengers is equipped with television screens, air conditioners and comfortable leather airplane-type seats. The travel time in one direction will be no more than 1.5 hours. In addition, a comfortable and fast crossing of the state border will be organized for all passengers.
In the near future, detailed information on the schedule, as well as on points of sale of catamaran tickets, will appear on the official websites of the Unified Transport Directorate and the Sochi Administration.
