The Omega Center hotel complex summed up the results of the campaign to support tourists affected by the suspension of travel agencies.

In the summer of 2014, a series of closures of travel companies entailed thousands of «burnt out» tourist vouchers, a spoiled vacation of Russians and a kind of crisis in the tourist services market.

The Federal Agency for Tourism, together with the administration of the Krasnodar Territory and the Omega Center OJSC, initiated and conducted an action to support the affected tourists. According to the terms of the campaign, instead of vouchers purchased from bankrupt travel agencies, tourists were offered to relax for free for a week in the new Sochi hotel complex – the city-hotel «Barkhatnye sezony». The participants of the Action were offered accommodation in standard double rooms with breakfast included. Tourists who wanted to extend their stay (and there were a lot of them), increase the room category or increase the number of guests were offered preferential conditions.

The first tourists arrived in Sochi a few days after the start of the campaign, at first it was only the clients of the Neva company. Then it was decided to support tourists of such major operators as Labyrinth, Wind Rose, Expo Tour, Nordic Star, IntAer.

«According to the results of the campaign, the city-hotel «Barkhatnye sezony» received 1006 tourists affected by the suspension of the activities of travel companies. Most of the guests chose our hotel for holidays with children. Almost all clients increased the proposed period of stay from one week to ten days or more. The peak of arrival fell at the end of August and the beginning of September, which is natural, because this is the highest season for a beach holiday in Sochi. The second wave of incoming tourists coincided with the November holidays and, accordingly, the autumn holidays for schoolchildren. During this period, we observed not only the extension of the stay, but also an increase in the number of rooms, as well as an increase in the categories of the proposed accommodation facilities. Guests came with families, with friends, especially popular were the rooms of the categories «two-room suite» and «apartments with kitchen». The convenient location of our city-hotel «Barkhatnye sezony» and the developed transport infrastructure explain the choice of the participants of the action when placing in the winter season. A great opportunity to ride on the modern Sochi ski slopes was opened for those tourists who postponed their vacation and planned to participate in the Action at the end of December.
