The conference of young leaders opened on the basis of the city-hotel «Barkhatnye sezony» on March 28.

«The mission of the Association of Young Leaders is to create an open, innovative, dynamically developing and responsible society in Russia by developing leadership qualities and skills among young people from 13 to 30 years old,» notes Anton Lopukhin, one of the organizers of the Association of Young Leaders.

In Sochi, 80 children from a dozen regions of Russia came to master modern technologies of work and communication with young people, learn how to create and maintain an atmosphere of cooperation, develop bright and interesting events and explore ways to optimize the work of the school or student council.

According to the organizers, by conducting leadership trainings, they provide an opportunity for young people to realize themselves in their field of interest. The leadership program teaches young people modern methods of working in a team, forms an active civic position and increases the level of self-esteem. The Association helps young people to make a positive contribution to society and contributes to the creation of a positive image of youth in society. The result of participation in the AYUL will be an increase in the chances of each young person to become successful in their chosen field of activity.

For many years, the Association of Young Leaders has been organizing and conducting leadership themed camps for children of different ages within the framework of the children's recreation program in the Russian Federation. Such children's recreation programs usually last from 7 to 14 days and include, in addition to the elements of the leadership program, time for active sports, the creation and implementation of their own interesting project, acquaintance with historical sites located near the camp site.

As a rule, leadership shifts are held during school holidays and children from different educational institutions are invited to them. The shift program is designed for children from 10 to 13 years old and from 14 to 18 years old, taking into account the age characteristics of our participants.

The leadership camp in Sochi for spring break is held in the city-hotel «Barkhatnye sezony», which was built for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

The Association of Young Leaders (AYUL) is a youth non–political non-profit and non-religious organization. It was formed in 1992 as a result of the development of the youth leadership training program in Russia.

The mission of the AYUL is to create an open, innovative, dynamically developing and responsible society in Russia by developing leadership qualities and skills among young people from 13 to 30 years old. At the moment, the AYUL is working in several areas: conducting leadership trainings; implementing volunteer actions and attracting young people to the volunteer movement; assisting educational institutions in organizing student self-government bodies; increasing the level of tolerance and fostering a culture of peace.

International projects are being implemented in some of the areas, including school exchanges, volunteer internships, joint conferences and close cooperation with the California Association of Student Councils, the University of Central Lancashire, the SALTOEECA resource Center. In 2007, the Association became an information partner of the European Commission's Youth in Action program in the Russian Federation.
